Arlington, Va., August 13, 2008 — Acquisition Solutions, Inc. announced today that it has signed an agreement with Defense Acquisition University (DAU) to expand the availability and scope of federal acquisition workforce training, particularly as it applies to acquisitions for the Department of Defense. The strategic partnership aims to promote a better understanding and improvement of practices that build the critical competencies federal workers need to address the government's increasingly complex acquisition challenges.
Today's acquisition workforce faces several major challenges, including the need to retain the experience and knowledge of government retirees, adapt to dynamic advances in information and networking technologies, and to streamline infrastructure. The Department of Defense continues to work to reduce the cost and time it takes to deliver major weapons systems. Services now account for more than half of Defense acquisition spending. Innovative training is essential to meeting these challenges with effective performance-based acquisition and other outcome-focused procurement approaches.
"As the workforce continually evolves, so do our customers' learning needs," said Frank J. Anderson, Jr., President of Defense Acquisition University. "We look forward to working with Acquisition Solutions to translate acquisition insight, innovation and leading practices into outcome-oriented training solutions that meet those needs and significantly improve our clients' mission results."
The partnership includes collaborative efforts to develop, deliver and evaluate new course content tailored to meet needs of both the defense and civilian acquisition workforces, including distributing literature on Acquisition Solutions' Master Certificate in Performance-Based Acquisition to members of the acquisition workforce. The organizations also will collaborate to identify leading practices from the private sector and to advance effective knowledge management practices.
"Defense Acquisition University has long played a leading role in transforming the acquisition workforce within the Department of Defense. We are honored by this partnership, and we look forward to working together to develop the resources, curriculum and best practices to better support the needs of the federal acquisition workforce," said Anne Reed, President and Chief Executive Officer of Acquisition Solutions.
