Frequently Asked Questions
Master's Certificate Program Information
COURSE COUNSELING OBTAINING PMP® PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT UNITS OBTAINING COLLEGE CREDIT FOR ACQUISITION SOLUTIONS COURSES Master's Certificate Program Information Besides completing the courses, are there any other requirements for the certificate? If you wish to earn ACE CREDIT recommendations or to apply their certificate toward to the University of Maryland School of Public Policy Executive Master of Public Management degree, you must complete a capstone project. However, if you do not wish to earn the ACE CREDIT recommendation, the Master's Certificate Program is a competency-based educational experience and you will receive a certificate upon completion of the three specified core courses and two elective courses. How long do I have to complete the program? All courses must be completed within a four-year period. This completion period begins with the first day of the first course applied toward the Master's Certificate Program. Do I have to take courses in a certain order? The Master's Certificate Program is structured to build advanced competencies based on core knowledge. We strongly recommend that the two foundation courses (PBA and PBPM) be taken first, so you become grounded in the methodologies and thought processes required to implement performance-based acquisition successfully. Electives may be selected in any order after the foundation courses are completed. As a capstone to the Master's Certificate Program, the Strategic Business Advisor course brings everything you've learned into a synergized focus, so you are equipped to be a leader in your organization's PBA programs. I've taken Acquisition Solutions training courses in the past. Do these apply to this Master's Certificate Program? Yes, if you've taken our courses they will apply toward the program requirements. If previously completed courses are applied, the four-year completion requirement commences at the time you apply to the program. Can I get college credit for these courses? The American Council on Education's College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT) has evaluated and recommended college credit for 10 of Acquisition Solutions' courses. The American Council on Education, the major coordinating body for all the nation's higher education institutions, seeks to provide leadership and a unifying voice on key higher education issues and to influence public policy through advocacy, research, and program initiatives. For more than 30 years, colleges and universities have trusted ACE CREDIT to provide reliable course equivalency information to facilitate their decisions to award academic credit. For more information, visit the ACE CREDIT website at http://www.acenet.edu/acecredit and view the ACE CREDIT recommendations final report. Although a prestigious accomplishment, the Master's Certificate Program is not equivalent to a master's degree. When can I obtain college credits for your courses? For the benefit of our Acquisition Solutions students, Acquisition Solutions participates in the American Council on Education's (ACE) Transcript Service. The ACE Transcript Service offers a lifelong record for students who have successfully completed our courses that have been reviewed by ACE CREDIT. This service enables adult learners to present a nationally recognized transcript to the college or university of their choice for the potential award of academic credit. For more information, visit the ACE CREDIT Transcript Service website. Can I transfer credits from other educational providers toward this Master's Certificate Program? We have a partnership with Defense Acquisition University (DAU) that allows DoD Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (AT&L) workforce members to transfer DAU BCF 102 "Fundamentals of Earned Value Management" for credit toward the Master's Certificate Program in Performance-Based Acquisition. Also, we are working to develop additional partnerships that allow students to transfer credits toward our Master's Certificate Program. Acquisition Solutions, Inc. has an agreement with the University of Maryland School of Public Policy (MSPP) to enable students of MSPP to earn credits toward the Executive Master of Public Management program by completing Acquisition Solutions' Master's Certificate in Performance-Based Acquisition. Students completing the PBA MCP will have completed 20% of the Master's Degree requirements! What happens if I change jobs before completing all the courses?
